London 6th March, 2020 - Artefato Gallery launches it’s online art gallery showcasing
Brazilian contemporary artists whose art engages with social issues. The platform is
founded and curated by London based Brazilian art collector Tulio Althoff.
Born with the aim to amplify counter-narratives and epistemologies from the Global
South, the gallery exhibits emerging and mid-career Brazilian artists creating
contemporary works such as paintings, fine art photography, prints, collage and
drawing.
Artefato is launching with six Brazilian artists: PIA highlighting Public Space , Junior
Santos on Biodiversity , Joelson Bugila on Mass Media , Guilherme Portela on
Masquerade , Denilson Baniwa on Indigenous Rights and Camila Soato on Gender,
Race and Popular Brazilian culture .
The gallery aims to connect various artists communities from Brazil and provide its
artists greater exposure to new markets by showcasing different Brazilian
contemporary art practices to the rest of the world, offering a wide range of prices and
payment conditions in order to be accessible to a wider audience.
The gallery is planning to have a pop up exhibition in London later in the year, keep in
